Clint,
I am not an authority on the current 'culture' as to what call sign to use
or to whom to give credit. I expect the decision is made by the radio
station owner. However I can give you a little history. When amateur
stations and operators were first licensed there was a station license
associated with a specific location and an operators license that permitted
operating a any licensed station. Back in the 1930s I did occasionally
operate at a radio station that then had your current callsign and being
legal I signed W5CPT! Amateurs had a very strong desire to be personally
identified by a callsign, and the FCC responded to their wishes. There now
is no amateur station license in the same sense as one for a commercial BC
station that is strictly tied to equipment and antenna patterns.
