I dont care one way or the other on the 'extreme' category. I wont be joining
it anyway. I figure I can instant message if I want
to go that route.
What I dont understand, however, without trying to sound arrogant is: Why can
we all of a sudden have a category for this internet
mode of communication, but not be able to get any sponsors to pay attention to
our plea for categories for what I call "Handicapped
Hams", that is to say, simple antenna systems with wire antennas or towers less
than 80 feet tall, power less than 200 watts, ect.
I would like to see a category for low power <200W that would not include
someone running a 5 stack at 190 feet or a vertical array
to make up the difference of transmitter output power.
We all know that ERP is the final word on power output not what goes into the
or out of the final of the transmit system.
We enter a contest single OP low power, normally, because we dont have the
bucks or land to go any other way (hence "Handicapped
Hams").
