Well, I guess sour grapes is a bit strong..my apologies, Hal.
But, I still fail to see an issue...Multi op is in my interpretation, an
operation at a single QTH, using multiple operators, keeping fresh butts in
the chair.
I guess I think SO2R is WAY closer to multi-op , than what you are asking.
My reasoning being I have heard many known SO2R guys, especially during SS
with the long exchanges, CQ in my face ( they were 30 over 9, I know they
heard me), while I would presume they were completing a QSO on the other
rig. Hitting the CQ button on rig 1, just to hold a freq is way closer to
unethical, than having a pal hold you QRG. Plus, it is a rule violation, but,
unenforceable. It happened to me at least twice for sure this weekend.
Anyway, sour grapes, that's me engaging fingers before brain.

SS has nothing to do with Sprint. Sprint rules encourage station groups
to rotate among set frequencies – no such rules in Sweepstakes or DX
contests.
If you and another station agree to hold a frequency working as a tag
team, you are acting in a form of multi-op…which seems wrong for a single op
entry, at least to most of us.

Heard yesterday afternoon on 20M:
Station A has a nice run going.
Station B calls in - an obvious buddy - maybe the same club?
Station A: "Hey, hold the freq for me for a while, I wanna go check 15"
Station B: "Sure." Station B starts a run.
40 minutes later, Station A comes back on - "Okay, done on 15, Ill take
it back"
Station B: "It's all yours, happy to help"
Station A: Restarts his run on 20.
For those curious, I didn't quit for 40 minutes just to listen to this -
besides SO2R I have a third receiver here, which I parked on the freq to
see if the guy ever really came back - he did. BTW, since I have the
QRG, calls and times, it is VERY EASY for the log checkers to verify
once they know to look....
Is this really okay? If so, I need some helpers.
