During the SSB Sweepstakes, a well-known contester called me, and
reported that my recorded audio was much too "hot," as compared to my
"live" audio. From my experience over 900+ QSOs, it appears that a lot
of people have the same problem, or variations on it.
I have lots of control over the levels of my live and recorded audio,
but am having difficulty figuring out how to get the adjustment right.
I can watch the compression level on my Mk5, and try to get roughly the
same amount of compression on live and recorded audio, but I have no
confidence that it sounds the same to others.
Can anyone suggest a good technique, other than the obvious - getting a
friend to listen?
