Every Radio I have ever had no matter how i adjust the vox unless I make 
a noise before saying  anything the first syllable would never be heard 
well,
My Wiskey Bravo Nine came back to me 50% of the time as Kilo Bravo  nine 
the wis of the wiskey would be cut off. so people would hear the key and 
assume they heard kilo.
