While I'm happy with the status quo I'll mention several alternatives:
- Google Groups. Works exactly like an email reflector but allows users to
optionally use a web interface for posting, reading, searching, etc.
- StackExchange: Platform designed more for Q&A than discussion. Results
in very nice, community-vetted, hierarchically organized information
archive.
- Reddit: Free online discussion with private messaging. Easy (for better
and worse) bleed over into other communities. Very large audience so
beneficial for outreach and making others aware of the hobby/sport.
Supports moderation.
