Hi Scott,
I am afraid that won't last very long as exposed copper braid will wick water,
turn black and then fail unprotected and it is hard to waterproof.
Even tinned copper braid is not recommended for outdoor applications.
That is why DXE uses 1AWG insulated heavy wire for their bypass kit
