Rich & other's interested in Hercules II power supplies other than the
#9420:

Many years ago I bought a Hercules II , deep cycle marine battery (listed
in Hercules manual) and automatic battery charger. For the casual
operator, I suppose this would suffice. Using it on 10 meters in a
contest drained the battery too frequently for practical purposes. (I
used heaviest battery cables with 80 amp in-line fuses.)

After several amplifers since, (change is good !) I purchased the
Hercules II AND # 9420 power supply (220 VAC) and can comfortably operate
and change bands automatically via the # 236 remote cable, with the
realization it will not harm my family, home or station. (After a club
member reminded me of potential battery explosion, I was not comfortable
using this method.)

The deep cycle marine battery is Ten-Tec's only recommended power
alternative for the # 420 amp, if not using the # 9420.

73-Good luck
