Ok, I have an Astron RS-70M to operate my little Henry
solid-state 750 watt output linear. But the A70 cannot
supply sufficient current to run with a nice, clean signal much
over 250 watts out.

I have been told to put a storage battery in parallel with
the A70; it will act as a "capacitor" supplying the needed
current for the SSB and CW surges needed for more
like 5 or 600 watts output.

Now, I know that the Astron voltage is too high and if
used for hours at a time would overcharge and damage
the battery. But what about occasional use, you know,
maybe an hour or two each evening as we come into
the better DX'ing season in another month or so?

Alternative is to modify the Astron to bring the output
voltage down to only 12 volts from the 13++ at present,
anyone done that?
