Hmmmmmmmmm

Well, now that I am an EXPERT on OMNI VI command set (yeah, RIGHT!) I can
tell you there is simply nothing to it. I wrote a Visual BASIC program that
is a simple software controller for the OMNI. In the code I have a function
that converts from BCD to HEX to ASCII and back. Once you have the beast
tamed down and the bugs cleared out, it works without much effort. Now, as
for the stability of tuning, I am about to do battle with TT over the silly
little quirks I see... Things like a valid freq being put into the command
buffer, and the return from the xcvr of a freq something like F.EEF.EAB ..
I have even on a couple of occasions been able to get alpha characters to
pop up on the Omni display (it seems to like the letter P a lot...) I am
sure it is a problem in my code, or, in the handshaking between my PC and
the rig. I hope TT's technical support department is as responsive to
software issues as they are to hardware issues.. We shall see.... As for
TRLog (I am NOT familiar with the program itself) I can only assume that
the author doesn't want to take on the OMNI BCD command set for whatever
reason.. The good news is, you only need to write it once, it seems to be
the same command set for all of the Omni family...
