The binaural filtering option in the new DSP599ZX firmware is meant to
localize cw signals at different perceived points in space through your
headphones depending on their tone. Instead of sharper selectivity to
reject adjacent signals, the theory is that your brain can discriminate by
focusing your attention at a different point in space. Multiple signals are
present, but in cocktail party fashion, you hear the one you want. Can't
comment on how well it works - I don't have the latest binaural firmware for
my DSP599ZX. In other respects it is a very nice product.

To follow up on my previous email to you Clark, I did some critical
listening and I think it is hard to beat the Heil Pro headset. Fidelity is
almost on par with top shelf Sennheisers, long-term comfort level is
excellent, and the HC5 cartridge does a good job. Well worth the money and
Bob Heil will get right on the phone with you to answer questions a la
Ten-Tec.
