Avlia: With a properly designed antenna tuner and low loss line you can operate your antenna on the lower CW end of 80 meters with no problem and very high efficency. The antenna itself does NOT have to be resonate for it to radiate with high efficiency. One only needs to resonate the SYSTEM which includes the antenna and transmission line and any tuning devise. One can locate the tuning devise at the rig for convenience. This assumes low loss transmission line is used. (A high swr on the transmission line does NOT mean the antenna itself is not radiating all the power delivered.) So, build yourself an antenna tuner or simple matching devise and enjoy tremendous bandwidth and additional qso's. - Corn- k4own -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/FAQ/tentec Submissions: tentec@contesting.com Administrative requests: tentec-REQUEST@contesting.com Problems: owner-tentec@contesting.com |
