I have to chuckle every time I hear about someone who is concerned with gear
coming from a "non-smoker". I purchased an amplifier sight unseen almost
two years ago. It was from a 'non-smoker" who lived in a small cabin in
norhern new england who had to have kept his shack warm with a wood stove.
It gets far too cold up there for a pair of 3-500's alone to keep you
toasty. That amp has been sitting in my garage since purchase, still airing
out! If I bring it into the house,I can smell that stale wood smoke smell
yet today. Don't get me wrong, I love a good wood fire and have heated
homes with wood stoves in the past. Time and lots of elbow grease will get
most of the smell out of gear. Short of complete dis assembly and new parts
I do not think one can ever be rid of that smell. In another year or two
this amp may be "aired out" enough to use. By then. Non smoker and smoke
free are two very different terms. Good luck with your noxious odor
abatement process. 73 bob de w9ge
