Hi,

Am just into my second day now with the Orion. Today
was the day to hook up the rig to the computer/soundcard
to begin experimenting with the digital modes.

Two little issues:

1. So, fetched the five pin DIN connector from the accessory
pack which came with the Orion. Went around back to
make the connections and..............what!??

The AUX I/O socket is an 8 pin DIN receptacle, exactly the same
as the one just below into which my remote tune knob
is connected! I couldn't believe my eyes; got a flashlight
to check again (as my eyes aren't that good anyway).
Sure enough 8 pins, not 5. And the supplied cable would
not plug in.

So there goes the experiments with digital modes for now.

My Orion is S/N 10C10512, and it definitely is equipped with
a different DIN socket than that described in the manual for
the AUX I/O and that of the DIN connector supplied cable.

2. When I push the TUNE button, all does as it should; BUT,
upon releasing the TUNE, the rig goes "blank", that is no rcv,
Must turn the power off, then back on, and all is well again.
Guess I will avoid using TUNE until I learn what this is about.

Otherwise, the rig is fantastic. Have used it both SSB and CW,
lots to report, particularly vs. my RX-340, but this is not
the note in which to do that. Anyway, only few hours of
use so far.
