Bill, I never did make the mod to my FT-1000D and the
incentive to do it is starting to wane in the wake of
the Orion ;-)
I think feeding the vertical to the subreceiver is
worth trying.
Besides the technical advantages to diversity, I find
the stereo effect makes listening a lot more fun - my
audiophile background perhaps . . .
