I agree with Bernard, except I want to clarify one rather small point. It's not always "what you can afford," but rather what you chose to operate. Even though I teach college for a living (and write), I could have an Orion in the station here. However, at least at this particula point in my life, I chose to use an old Argosy, some homebrew gear, and a number of kits. Not better, or less, just my choice. Same with the experimental and wire antennas. One opinion.
