Well Buck, I guess you could just fiddle around with it until the BDR 
degrades then you'll know you have the filter in-line. Isn't it amazing 
what we've come too? Rigs are now so complex that we can't even tell when 
a filter is engaged and when it is, reception is degraded? No wonder you 
are confused!
