Vox was designed and implemented so we would not have to keep manually going
from TX to RX during a conversation. With that comes "VOX DELAY' when set
correctly it makes for a very nice conversational operation with TX-RX
switching
automated. But in a DX, net or contest environment you want to get RX back ASAP
(normally, unless you are having a nice rag chew with the DX). So PTT is far
better (footswitches are great!).

Just like my previous post on QSK.... if you set the VOX DELAY to '0' then
you get all the band noise and maybe some relay clacking in between words (dits
in the case of QSK).

So, my take is IF there was NO band noise, AND NO mechanical noise when
switching TX-RX the Full QSk and VOX with no dealy would be cool.

Of course, in the case of VOX that means you also need a quiet house... no
one coming in and saying ' When are you going to get off that dam radio so we
can eat dinner" Hi Hi

Every mode of operation has it's good and bad points!

At least we don't have to do it the way it was back when I started with all
this...turn off TX, throw the antenna knife switch, unmute RX!!

Lee
