Jim,
For most PSK 31 set ups, the literature advises to NOT use the rig's VOX,
but wire to the PTT.   You might have a live mike, if it is plugged into
some rigs during PSK activity, so first unplug your mike.

If unplugging the mike does not help; reconfigure to control the PTT for rig
changeover.
