Hmmm. I suppose I could rectify and filter it then measure the DC voltage
with my DVM or perhaps the scope.
A couple of years ago I disconnected the ground wire between the furnance
and cold water pipe then inserted an ammeter. There was a heafty current,
easily read on the ma. scale of my Tripplet vom and it fluctuated with
WHAS's modulation!

Steve,
I don't doubt your reports. Vacuum tubes are the best for strong
signals! Can you measure the actual BC voltage at the antenna
terminals?

Ok but I doubt all of this. The Orion I had here was totally devistated
by BCI from WHAS, 50kw about 10 miles away when using my loop. The loop
gives any rig a hard way to go unless there's a tuner inline. A few rigs
are able to withstand this such as my TS-480, TS-930, IC-756PROII and
OMNI VI but the older TT rigs were totally rendered useless unless I had
a tuner or my ICE filter in-line. Oh yes, the Jupiter and Pegasus were
also wiped out. The Orion was blasted on 160 and 80m. My HQ-150 and SX-
122 don't notice a thing! '
