I am in the same boat, but did a mod to the rail on the boom by cutting a small 
slot in the plastic cover to allow the cable to come out from the middle and 
reach the rig.  Doesn't look that bad, but like the rest of you, I'd like an 
"extender".  If anyone comes up with a solution, let me know.
