Denton, your feed method provided horizontal polarization, favoring
close-range contacts whereas Scott's feed method provides vertical
polarization, favoring DX.
It's hard to decide which method to use. We all want both.
The sexiest setup I ever saw was a loop (delta) with all three corners
having pulleys. That way to op could slide the feed point to the middle or
to the corner to select the desired polarization.

Well, in the past I have fed my loop kinda upside down from the way you
did...at 40' at the top with 450 ohm twin lead and open up the bottom with
whatever was handy for use on 160...
Worked very nicely on 80 and 40 and so-so on 160.
Will have to check out the Wireman on those switches..have been looking for
them.
the qth for the loop is on the S side of the house, with the shack on the N
side....
