Hi Ron,

Thanks for the rundown on your station. I envy your ORION II.

I haven't tried PSK31 yet, but plan to. As I said, I'm having a ball
with RTTY using the MMTTY software.

My setup is integrated into the audio gear I use for my voiceover and
narration studio. My "ham shack" is essentially the studio with a
Pegasus plugged into the end of the audio chain and a Drake TR-7 off to
the side. Right now I'm using the Ten Tec for CW and digital and the
Drake for SSB and AM (I modified it for DSB).

As for RTTY, I have a Delta 44 soundcard plugged into my computer (this
is a soundcard often used with the FlexRadio SDR-1000) It has 4 inputs
and 4 outputs on a breakout box, so it's flexible and can accomodate the
audio gear and the radio simultaneously.

For reception, the line output of the Pegasus is fed directly into a
pair (right and left) of soundcard inputs through a "Y" cable

For transmission and monitoring, one output channel from the soundcard
goes into the Pegasus auxiliary input (DIN jack) through a W2IHY iBox
which neatly takes care of level control, impedance matching and audio
isolation. A pair of the remaining outputs from the soundcard feed a
120 watt stereo amp and monitor speakers through a mixer board. I
posted a photo of the shack at http://www.aerialacts.com/W3CRR_0406.jpg
. The, computer, radio gear and interface equipment are all underneath
the desk with the tangle of cabling hidden behind a kick panel.

It's actually a lot simpler than it sounds and I'm sure the on-board
soundcard in the computer would work every bit as well for RTTY.

I hope to chat with you on the air soon.

73,

Craig
