You have to remember that these reflectors tend to be very closed
communities, and there are some very opinionated folks (which isn't to say
there is anything amiss with their opinions).

The most opinionated tend to be Orion owners who moved to the Orion II and
found some differences between the two radios, or Orion owners who moved to
the v2 software and didn't like it relative to the v1 code.  I'm sort of in
both groups.  The Orion (original) had some very well known issues with
overall stability, especially early on.  The Orion II/v2 solved those
problems, but introduced a number of significant differences in the DSP
implementation.

Although there is certainly a considerable list of things I personally wish
T-T hadn't done to the Orion II, or had just left well enough alone, even
that isn't enough to seriously detract from what is in general a fine radio.
Not a perfect radio in every possible respect, but on balance a very very
good one.
