I am using a non-Ten-Tec 6 metre transverter with my Orion (565). The transverter is fed with a 10 metre signal using the XVTR RF port on the rear of the Orion. Everything works well HOWEVER I noticed that, on SSB, I had to increase the MIC gain from about 17 to 50 to get adequate ALC and appropriate drive? I would have thought that ALC would not need to be changed when going from normal transceiver to the use of a transverter? I was curious if anyone else is using the XVTR RF output and has noticed a similar need to crank up the MIC gain. Thanks! 73, Rick VE7TK Website: http://www3.telus.net/ve7tk |
