If the heatsink temperature stays within reason, the horizontal fins are
adequate. They will cool immensely better if a muffin fan is hung our
mounted to blow air at them. Then gravity is far less of a factor. Slow
speed muffin fans can be very quiet. But the fan will gather lint,
whether fast or slow.
