I was referring to the 1209, not the 1208. The 1209 is a 6 meter transverter that converts 50 mhz to 144 so you can use a 2 meter radio and get 6 meters. I never had a 1209, just a 1208. And of course the 1208 converts 50 mhz to 14 mhz. The question was what is difference between the 1208 and 1209.

Must be a typo. My 1208 converts 14 MHz (not 144) to 50 MHz. Works
great. I drive it with 5 watts from my Argo V and it puts out 8-9 watts on 6.

with
my Orion for a long time and it worked very well. Yes, just keep the
power
at 5 watts and all will work well. Be very careful to never accidentally
put more then 20 watts into it. If you do, you will blow a switching
diode
in the radio. I can tell you this from experience. And it is very easy
to
forget to reduce the power.

I attended the Jefferson, WI hamfest this past Sunday and on an impulse I
purchased a Model 1208, 6m transverter. Just out of curiosity does
anyone
know the differences between the 1208 and 1209 models? I plan to attempt
to use the transverter with my Scout 555 for portable operation. Other
than making sure I keep the Scout output down to 5 watts is there
anything
else I should be aware?
