The K3 has become our radio of choice for the portable xpeditions.
That was a no-brainer.

For the fixed stations, we can't agree on which radio to standardize on.
Lots of Orion I's and K3s, and a few of the multi-million dollar JA rigs.

Interesting, several people have bought the K3, liked it's performance, but
didn't like the radio, so they sold it again. That almost kept me from
buying a K3. I haven't used mine enough to decide if it's a keeper or not,
though I used another K3 in Field Day and it was great.

Lots of FT2000 and FT1000 series radios have been sold or are for sale
by contesters. Their owners replaced them with K3s. The primary reason
is that the K3 is almost 20dB better in terms of front end performance,
and generates 10-20 dB less trash. The Orion II is probably the closest
competitor.
