Thanks,

It seems to be working again now. Or at least I was eventually able to load
code into it and it seems okay. The symptoms were that the firmware loader
was telling me it could not find the rig and halted. I disabled the halt on
errors and managed to see data on the input to the MAX232. A couple of times
it stopped at about 50 lines or so but eventually it went right through.
Still wouldn't boot though but re-trying again, this time with halt on error
enabled it found the rig and loaded the code. Then it worked. That was
pretty late last night and I haven't done anything else other than switch it
on this morning and the serial port seems to be working okay.

I rather suspect a poor or bad cable or connector. Time will tell I guess.

Back to playing with audio again when I get some time.

Martin, HS0ZED

Have you tried unplugging the rig and letting it stand for awhile.
Dumb as it sounds, I have revived various computer systems this way, whereas
no efforts to reboot, clear the BIOS to factory settings,
or other forms of flashing the system would work. Sometimes just a
little time off with no power applied does it.

No guaranty, but this is a free item to try as I understand these radios are
kinda designed like computers inside.

Just something to try while waiting for other suggestions.

Good luck.  ============== K8JHR  =========================
