From K1FK about the chips on the OMNI VI control board. He's dug deeper
than I have. Some parts the makers do show as obsolete, but I have
inquiries to TI and AD about the CODEC. Motorola PLL chips have often
tended to come and go as Motorola invented new versions.

Jerry,
All of the IC's on the VI/VI+ logic board are readily available in
single unit quantities from reliable sources and at reasonable cost as
of 21/01/2011. U4 and U9 require TT programming ... all the rest are
easily "owner replaceable" components ... if one has the technical
knowledge and ability to troubleshoot the board and identify the
defective component.
Several years ago I compiled a list of the ICs on the logic board and
their availability from various major component suppliers. After the
recent (early Jan/2011) thread on the list (and the 'notion' that some
components are obsolete) I updated the table - see attached. Feel free
to share with the list --- I'm not a subscriber.
