Hi, Barry

Not sure what you mean by Radio Mode.  When I go to SETUP in the Steppir Menu, 
I can set mode to ORION, several other rigs, NONE or STEPIR.  Tried setting it 
to STEPIR and no polling.  Went back to ORION Mode and works again with 
external Software doing the polling.  
I do have a controller that's about 5 yrs old. May need new firmware - dunno.

If you're not using the Steppir with computer control/logging
software, just use the Steppir controller in stand alone radio mode
and the controller itself will poll the CAT port.  Radios don't
typically broadcast their frequency changes - they generally need to
be polled.
