Barry -

I hate intermittent problems.

I cleaned all pins and connectors on the front panel and cleaned the cable pins that plugged into the front panel and backplane. I used Deoxit. It worked, put it back on the desk, it didn't work. I will have time tomorrow to start going through each board. Chief suspect A9.

The 1 watt is not steady. It will be one watt than.5w than zero then some other fraction. When the audio is off, it is off for both main and sub and my XG-1 50uv signal cannot be heard.

John, let us know what happens after the connector reseating.

With that 1 watt xmit output, can you hear the signal on the correct
freq on another rig (assuming you have one)? No rx output from either
main or sub receiver? Can you feed it a strong local signal and see
if you hear that through the Orion rx?

Yes, a few times. I'll work on the connectors first. Thanks for the help.

Before you break out the tools or packing tape, have you first tried a
Master Reset, RAM Clear or re-flash of the firmware?

Pull the front panel and spray all the cable connectors. Unplug each
connector, spray them, and then plug them back in and out at least 10
times
to clean them. There's at least 100 connections in there, each one with
its
own symptom. That fixed mine when I had an intermittent problem. The
fact
that the problem is intermittent points to a cable connection.

The last two days I have had an intermittent problem with my Orion 565.
I have no receive audio or just white noise. When this happens no
transmit output over 1 watt. Screen shows proper tuning and mode
selections, but you can't hear anything or only hear white noise.

Any ideas before I send it in?
