Regarding:
----------------

WOW! Then I have been asleep at the wheel. I was unaware of any band data
provided at the rear panel.
I will read the manual again.
My mistake. Sorry.

Yes, the 599 does provide a bit of band data, but, it is not documented and
it's decoding would be rather ugly. In the 599, we provided the direct
output clock/data/enable that go to the preselector board. Well, over the
years, the preselector board went through some changes that made the
decoding of this data rather ugly, so I have never documented this
interface, and probably never will.
What we "might" do someday is make a cheap pic chip based decoder that
turns the ugly data into a logical protocol, which we did implement in the
539/Argonaut VI.
Again, "Might"...... But don't count on anything like that soon, or, er,
uh, in the next year even.
ALL future transceivers after the 539 will include the new mo' betta
protocol.
(well, I say ALL, but who knows what evil lurks....)

Thanks, and 73,
