As Aluminum starts to oxidize as soon as it hits the air, you
must work the Penetrox (et al) into your conductor.
My favorite method is to use the finest steel wool I can find
and put the Penetrox on it. With this ball of wool you then
rub the Penetrox onto the element. Leave the fine coating on
when you assemble the elements.
I use "Burndy" Penetrox A. "P8A" This is low voltage
penetrox. The high voltage penetrox has copper bits in it
As per directions on bottle:
For best oxide penetration scratch brush Penetrox A into cable
with wire brush or abrasive cloth.
