I used this method before using the gallon of water method:
I filled an empty gallon paint can with concrete from Sakrete. I then
plunged a piece of 24" pipe with a tee (sealed) on the end into the can and
suspended it about three or four inches from the can bottom.
I've used it on three ground rods before being told of and trying the water
method, which, in this gumbo (clay)-laden Texas Coastal Prairie environment,
works great.
