Thanks to K1TTT for coming up with information that is precisely on point. I was startled (not that I should necessarily have been, but I was) by the amount of downforce on the rotator that can easily result when running a tramline from a mast rather than from the tower. Strikes me it would be easy to crack the top casting on some ham rotators if you weren't careful.
