The MonstIR is an amateur version of a receive only antenna that
is sold to agency buyers (the commercial version includes coverage
to 3 MHz with switched coils). Based on the specs and pictures,
the elements are in the same position as the current 4 element 20-6
meter antenna.
Doing some quick modeling with YO, the MonstIR will be capable
of about 7.0 dBi free space gain/20 dB F/R on 40 meters and
about 7.3 dBi gain/18b dB F/R on 30 meters. The gains and F/R
are better than any of the short/loaded 40 meter antennas but
are not quite as good as a "full size" (ca. 46-48' boom) three
element 40 or 30 meter yagi.
Still, for a single antenna with coverage from 7 to 30 and 50-54
MHz, it merits serious consideration.
