Well, that is what I used to think.  That scenario never happened
with any wire antenna I have put up in the last few years.  When
we moved to a new location in the fall of 2004 I had to go to all
wire antennas ..... no towers or beams.  I had the tree climber
(who was there to prune the trees) put in the screw eyes and run
some dacron line thru pulleys attached to the eyes.  No problems
at all.  Lots of movement in the tall pines, but no problems with
the eyes or the rigging.  I can look at the eyes with binocs and
see that they still stick way out from the tree, but there is no
bending. 

Try it.

The only problem I see with that is that if you have 8 inches of
shaft on a 
screw eye, that is a lot to bend back and forth.  Seems like it
is a lot 
stronger if you can screw it right into the edge of the eye.
