Have you checked the frequency of the voltage that the generator is
supplying? I have a reed meter that is plugged into my generator which is
actually a Lincoln AC - DC Arc welder which is also a 6kw generator. I set
my speed to make the 60 cycle happy. The voltage is normally around 115 plus
or minus a couple of volts.
I run our well, furnace and a couple of circuits in the house with it.
There are a number of power panels that will let you take selected circuits
from your switch panel and make them available to be supplied from the
generator. This is basically a two way switch that will let you select from
the main power source or the generator. Before I installed this I asked the
local power company to check it out. They gave it their blessing as there
was no way to feed back power to the grid.
