John

I bought a TX-472 un-motorized :-( , i regret having not gotten the motorized
version ever since !!!! the biggest advantage from my view point of having UST
do it is that you also now have positive pull down , this summer i plan on
motorizing mine , but , it wont have positive pull down unless i can find
someone close by who has one that i can go look at. if you opt for a
non-motorized version make sure you get a K2550 winch , the K1550 is terrible
on
that tower , at least with the 2550 even my 12 year old daughter can crank it up

good luck , i think i would also have a look at the SteppIR antennas if you are
buying new , lots of guys on here sure seem to like them.

Hi all. I'm currently in the planning stages for putting up a US Tower
TX-472 Crank-Up 72 foot tower this spring. Although I would like the
motorized crank-up, it adds about $1500 to the total cost of the tower
system, so I'm just planning on purchasing the hand-crank version. Is there
anyone else out there that thinks this is a really bad idea or has done the
same and wished they hadn't? :) If you have the hand-crank on the 472 is it
really hard to crank-up or lower?

I'm planning on putting up a Bencher Skyhawk Tribander along with their
Skylark 17/12 meter beam, so if you have either one of those antennas, I
would appreciate hearing your thoughts on performance and reliability.

Thanks!

John K7KB
