As you can see, I used that too. The "disadvantage" with that is that you can

You "only" need to cut the cable and can reuse everything else with the flare connection,
plus you get two attachments out of one union compare to one attachment with one union compression
coupling. The union coupling are about $8 at Lowes and Home Depot. It took me about 20 minutes to
shape the flare union into two attachments. It is just a matter of what you want to do. The
compression coupling is much easier to use, but it is fun to "build things" sometimes. :-)

That would not be a problem for me as I only use PL-259s once and then pitch them and it's rare to even attempt to reuse N type.

I use standard copper pipe compression fittings if the cable is the aluminum
75 ohm cabel tv line. They work great.

Well, they do make female F connectors for anything up to .750, but
normally it's terminated with pin connectors. The pin connectors though
are useful as a starting point to transition to UHF.

Is this 75 Ohm CATV cable?

If so, there are NO standard adapters or connectors. The cable TV
industry does not use "connectors" on this type of coax. The cable
connects directly to the device through a hole in the side of the device.
