I've tried this, and it works fairly well, but I found that running power out is often easier in the long run. In fact, what I did is run unregulated DC out, and had a point of load DC/DC converter to trickle charge the battery. A lot of these switching/control functions are high peak, low average power.


If you're digging a trench, dropping in another 3/4" conduit to carry AC power means you can have a convenience outlet to plug in things like soldering irons, test equipment, a sawzall, etc.
