Back in the day, it was said that Cushcraft VHF antennas
had more gain off the side than the front !!

Didn't stop me though from having an early 6 el "Long
John" along with a 32 el Collinear for 2 and a 64 el one
for 432. Mounted them back to back, seemed to work,
who knew.
