Anodized = insulating but not perfect

Alodine = conductive but not particularly attractive. 

Why bother with either?

But, as mentioned below, it is non-conductive so would need abrasive work after 
the fact on all the joints. I don't believe the process lends itself to any 
kind of practical masking.
