I am not sure how compact you can make the SteppIR elements but I would
imagine that they still need to be bolted to the boom. Then you have to run
wires to each element, install a controller with a power supply and maybe
also an interface to follow your transceiver.

If you don't share the elements you could look at finding a used 2 ele
SteppIR. Slide the tubes on and go. You just use tape on the fiberglass
connections.

The SteppIR does add a few other failure points if you are working with
newer hams etc.
