 hey Tom,
The best lightning protection is Polyphaser products.  They come in many 
styles, connection type, RF power level, and frequency range. Just google it 
(lol). 
Many manufactures out their, yet the commercial people (and myself) use maximum 
protection by Polyphsser.  Yes they are more expensive, yet cheap insurance for 
your electronics.

can't expect him to do the same.
