Thanks to all who took time to write. Once I read the documentation ( I know, I
know...) I was able to point WriteLog to COM5, where it initially sees the
IC706MkIIg ( via a K1NU-built cable). I'm still left with the original problem,
though, of WriteLog losing connection with the radio and displaying the "No
Rig!" indication. At WL startup, and if I open and "OK" the port configuration
menu, WL will talk to the radio for perhaps a minute, then the connection fails.

Everybody so far has indicated that "there has never been a problem with
WriteLog" insofar as the serial ports go. I'm not beyond thinking it's possibly
a hardware problem, perhaps related to the number of PCI devices sharing the
one interrupt, but has anybody got any other ideas about how I might fix or get
around the problem?

Thanks in advance - you've all be very supportive.

73,
John KB1HDO
