All a low pass filter is capable of is passing the frequencies before the cutoff frequency and rejecting the ones after it. This kills any interference from the 2nd, 3rd, harmonincs to the higher fre

All, I just won a rackmount, 5kW termination load, with peak reading wattmeter off ebay. The load was made by Sierra Electronics, division of Philco. The model is a 400A-Z. I'm now looking for a manu

Steve, I was thinking it more than likely was measuring the RF voltage on the load instead of a caloriometer. I have a 1.5 kW meter/load here from B&W that does that. They then just rectify the RF wi

Keith, That could have a couple of resistors that size in it as I'm familiar with the Palstar load. The cabinet is about 4" high, and a good bit deep so it may have two large or say 4 smaller ones in

Karl-Arne, If it were, it would be ok as this would become a neet project to convert over to say a 1-1.5 kW load that was air cooled. Say maybe with a 1 minute max rating or so. Then by changing it t

Keith, No, I didn't mean the Palstar was 4 inches high, the Sierra one is about that and a rack cabinet type. The Palstar has a higher cabinet as you say. The two resistors are about 2" O.D., and abo

Steve, Same here as I don't know either. If it's too weak of a load, it might become a good weekend project to upgrade the load a little. Without seeing its innards, one can't say much. I was hoping

Dave, That's ok as no more than I have in it, I'll rip out the small load resistor and replace it with a load bank that will fit in the cabinet. The peak power meter and rack cabinet was worth the $9

Bob, That resistor is really high resistance. Did you check it with an ohmmeter on the correct resistance? You may need to use a VTVM to read this high of a resistance. On a Simpson 260, the meter is
