I need either a 1000 pf or two 500 pf door knob capacitors with at least a 10 kV rating. These are for use as loading capacitors in a 160-meter single band liner using a pair of GI-7bT Russian tubes.

Basically, the other door knobs that I obtained for a VERY good price were 20 kV! Definitely overkill. I "solved" the problem by putting 2 0.01 mfd capacitors in series with the 1400 pf door knob fix

I don't really have enough plate voltage on them right now. Under load ended up with around 1700 volts. But, that is what I get out of the transformer that I had in the junque box! The plate current

Replace the diodes with 1N5408 which are cheap from Mouser and have a much better safety level than the original diodes. Mouser does not have a minimum order. http://www.mouser.com You will have to i

I disagree! Yes, you do have to enlarge the holes to use the 1N5408. However, the added protection of both the higher current rating and the surge of the 1N5408 over the 1N4007 will assure that if on

Actually, the original electrolytic capacitors were -50% / +80% in value. New capacitors generally come in +/-10% or +/-20%. Since the +/-20% capacitors are generally quite a bit less in cost, and si
