For a few years I had one of those meters on my house and I didn't notice any difference with regard to RFI. My antenna was an MFJ Hi-Q Loop, oriented vertically, maybe 50 feet from the meter. Howard

Georgia Power installed one of these meters at my QTH about a year ago. No problems at all. And what I really like about it is that it can be read remotely - no more meter reader driving up the road

Ed, it is most likely an Itron system. Can you determine whether it is a wired (PLC based) or 900 Mhz wireless? Itron along with many other AMR/ANI systems use the 902-923 Mhz band for communication

Ontario is moving to smart meters. My town ( Newmarket) was one of the first in Ontario to be so equipt. Although not being used to thier full potential of "peak hour" billing yet, they soon will be.
